Passport tracking

Hi everyone this is my first post :)
I applied to change names on my passport 2 weeks ago and i totally forgot to note down the barcode for tracking the application. Is it possible to find out how its getting on without the barcode? Im having a panic, holiday not till october and the passport people told me 2 weeks ago that i had plenty of time but I just want peace of mind....

thanks again

My passport name change took approximately 3 weeks - received by Liverpool passport office in mid July (so right at the peak of the "busy" time).

I think you do need the barcode number to track your application but just call the advice line to confirm. Did you use the Post Office "check and send" service? If so they may have a copy of the tracking number for you to use.

If you are not traveling until October I would say you have plenty of time as long as you have submitted all the proper paperwork - even if there is a mistake somewhere there is still lots of time to get it rectified. I wouldn't worry but call them for peace of mind. :)

You can't track it without the barcode number, and the call centre won't give out any information without it. If you used the check and send service @the Post Office the number is on the receipt. If you are not travelling until October you still have plenty of time. You can wait around 4 or 5 weeks for your passport at the moment.
