I have shown below my meter reading history (as much as I can get
from my account ). So you can roughly see how much I use throughout
the year.

Could someone confirm whether I should go for a tariff with
a Standing Charge or a Tiered Tariff?

Or does it not really matter?

Last years annual consumption for me was:

GAS = 14279 kwh (per year)
ELEC = 4753 kwh (per year)

Gas meter readings:

08/08/2012 = 4818

25/07/2012 = 4805

30/05/2012 = 4758

29/02/2012 = 4572

23/02/2012 = 4554

11/02/2012 = 4488

09/02/2012 = 4473

29/11/2011 = 4110

Electric meter readings:

08/08/2012 = 15065

25/07/2012 = 14916

10/05/2012 = 14057

29/02/2012 = 13237

11/02/2012 = 13000

09/02/2012 = 12982

28/11/2011 = 12037

09/11/2011 = 11802

30/08/2011 = 10977

10/08/2011 = 10755

02/08/2011 = 10668

29/06/2011 = 10290

31/05/2011 = 9958

12/05/2011 = 9739

05/05/2011 = 9654

10/02/2011 = 8588

11/11/2010 = 7204

09/10/2010 = 6814

As part of bill simplification OFGEM are pushing suppliers to offering Standing charge and not tiered tariffs as they are easier to understand.

if you put your annual kWh figures into any comp site it will tell you the difference-which will be a matter of a few pence.
