eon £50 late payment charge

Apparently OP thinks it is ok to get a bill and pay it when he is ready. A DD or Standing Order might solve the problem and, of course, the DD route would gain a small discount.
Possibly Eon should have caught on sooner to the "I'll pay the way I want when I am good and ready" method but now they have they sent letters which you ignored causing them to have to deal with it at some cost. Why don't you regularise your payments and move on?0 -
I am not normally sympathetic to posters who are "economical with the truth" and the Original Post did not mention the calls and letters.
That said the OP alleges a "satisfactory" call on the issue with an E.ON adviser. I believe that call is relevant in determining whether the subsequent doorstep call was reasonable.
Certainly the OP's payment regime isn't.Indeed, not like me not to choose my words carefully, "the Original Post (Post 1 I think:D) did not mention the calls and letters". In fact I spelled out "Original Post" over "OP" perhaps for the very reason you cite using Post 5.
Or are you making another point?:)
I can now see you had other ideas?;)0 -

"I'll pay the way I want when I am good and ready", unfortunatly thats not how i work pal,i thought i was ok making a regular monthly payment and making sure the bill was gone by the time the next bill was due in he next quarter.
the pay when im ready idea you have stated makes me look like i decide that i decde when i make payments and i wasnt, i got the bill then made a payment once a month when i got paid, i didnt know i had to pay it within 14 days and unfortunatly wasnt told when i phoned up to speak to the rep about the letters i'd recieved and the fact i'd been doing it for the last two years without any complaints from eon?
i think my next step will be contacting eon again and complaining that i was given false information by their rep as if he would have told me that i needed to go in an arrangement that day i'd have done it to avoid the £50 callout charge, i presume they will have the call logged so in theory that should back up my argument.0 -
Hi again glenandemm,
Thanks everyone for your input on this.
To be honest, it sounds like you have been given the wrong information on the phone and the fact that you have been getting letters and phone calls chasing the balance reflects this.
The calls should be logged and agree that you need to speak to us and get some sort of arrangement in place, you can have monthly if that would be best for you and it doesn't have to be Direct Debit if you don't want that.
If you need any more help from me, please just ask and I hope you get this sorted.

Or read the back / front of your bill where it says payment due within 14 days?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
