Natwest Gold Advantage Travel Insurance

Hi, I've had a Natwest Gold account for many years, and paid the usual monthly premium for the priviledge. I have now decided to look at their inclusive travel insurance, which is apparently complimentary.
I phoned Natwest and declared my own and my wife's pre-existing medical conditions, and was quoted a reasonable amount.
I have booked a holiday in the near future, and booked the flights using another credit card, but will intend to use my Natwest Gold card to pay for some, at least, of the hotels or expenses.
My friend also contacted Natwest to get the same travel insurance cover, but was told that the cover only applied to any elements of the holiday paid for with the Natwest Gold card.
Can anyone confirm if this is true ? As I booked the flights using another (non Natwest) card, am I entitled to cover for any problems related to flights ?
I can't see any reference in the policy documentation that specifies that I have to use my Natwest card for any transactions related to this trip.

I've got the same account and had to claim on the insurance when I was taken ill in Florida 18 months ago. I had actually paid for the holiday on my Nat West credit card. When I called the insurance dept for assistance they didn't ask how I'd paid for the holiday and obviously they didn't have access to all my accounts/cards to check it out for themselves.
I was extremely satisfied and impressed at the way they dealt with me and got my probs sorted. I've got pre-existing conditions too and for me the monthly fee for the account is paid for by the benefit of having the insurance.
As I say that was 18 months ago now so you might want to give them a quick call just to confirm it's still the same.
Have a good trip.

I've just contacted Natwest Travel Insurance directly, and asked the specific question "If I book a holiday using another credit card (not Natwest) will I still be covered by their Advantage Gold Travel Insurance ?".
Their reply was definitely YES, assuming I met their requirements for declaring any pre-existing medical conditions and paying any subsequent additional premium.
Interesting to note as well, that hypertension does not require any additional premium, unlike some other travel insurance providers, but should still be declared though.0
