Is the water level above the overflow point or below it when its pasing into the pan. If its below then you have a problem with the flush valve. If its above then its the inlet valve as the one you have linked to.
For the inlet valve adjust the knurled screw on the right hand side as you look at it in the image below.
its threaded opposite hand to that which you would normally expect so anticlock to lower the float and clockwise to raise it. You need to lower the float so that when it rises with the water level it pushes up on the lever via the threaded screw and shuts the water off before the water level reaches the overflow level.
If that doesn't work and its still doing it then there is something wrong inside the top of the valve or its the flush valve but try that first.

Hi i have tried to lower the float and it still over flows.
I have even lifted the leaver at the top to shut the water off but the water still carries on filling.
I have even managed to stop the cistern refilling by turning the screw but as soon as i touch the float leaver or turn the screw slightly the tank starts to fill and over flows untill it stops.
ThanksSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
Then its sounds as though the diaphragm in the valve needs replacing . Assuming its the 400 valve which you linked to its Fluidmaster Part No 242MP071 and it looks like this:

The top cap on the valve is removed by lifting the arm and rotating the cap so that it comes free of the retaining lugs. Can't remember if its anticlockwise or clockwise but you'll find fitting instructions with the new diaphragm. Diaphragm fits underneath the cap - just replace the one thats there already.

That is just to explain what mine is,
Mine has a red leaver and scew ajustment bar and a grey two piece float and the cap at the top is much bigger.
I have just tried to undo it by turning it both ways and ubless it is very tight it does not seen to unscew
This One the top picture

Oh so not the Fluidmaster then? Hmmm. Are you sure its the one you linked to this time?
'Fraid I don't know that one and will have to look it up but prolly very similar. Have to be later. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -

Right the Wirquin's cap just pops off (according to a mate). Underneath the cap you'll find a large nut to which the arm is attached and underneath that is the diaphragm. Take same to merchant (so you can compare it) to get another - apparently they sell 'em in BnQ.
Note that the float on this one is not screw operated. The vertical arm just unclips and you slide the float up and down to the correct position then reclip the vertical arm in place. Suggest you try that first.
