replacing hinges on a Schreiber integrated fridge

Hi everyone,
I've lurked here for a long time and have finally registered this evening!
For a first post, I thought I would see whether anyone has advice/experience in replacing hinges on a Schreiber integrated fridge.
We have an eight-year-old MFI fitted kitchen with a Schreiber APP6302 integrated fridge. About a year ago the lower hinge broke. The door still works, but it sags and you have to push it to make sure it's really closed. I'm always fretting over it.
I see I can buy replacement hinges on amazon for twenty pounds. However, I *haven't* been able to find any sort of instructions on how to actually replace them.
I just had a look at the fridge and it appears that I can just literally unscrew the old hinges, remove the door, and screw the new ones on--without having to take out the base or remove the whole fridge or anything like that. If that's the case, then I can easily do that on my own.
However, if there is a component that requires that the base be removed or the fridge taken out entirely--or anything else I'm not thinking of--then I will need to get a professional in. I don't have the strength for that and my husband has a bad back and couldn't help me.
So before I buy the hinges, I wonder if someone with knowledge/experience with this would be able to advise me?
Thanks very much!

Not a job that I've done but I have had an online look at the hinges and feel confident in saying that they simply need unscrewing and replacing without any removal of any other part of the fridge.
You may need a torx or maybe an hexagonal screwdriver bit to remove/replace.Forgotten but not gone.0 -
easy job to do, the hardest part is taking the door off the fridge. once that is off remove the hinge and fit new one ( they are handed top left is the same as bottom right and top right is the same as bottom left ) so either buy a complete pair or the handed one that is broken.
good luck0 -
Thank you so much for the advice. I'm going to go for it! I'll come back with an update.0

Hi everyone,
Just thought I'd give an update on this, if anyone's interested. I bought the hinges, went on holiday, and this morning resolved to replace them.
Unfortunately, when I went to remove the existing hinges, the screws would *not* budge. I had a long manual screwdriver and an electric screwdriver--neither worked. I was using the correct fitting for the screw heads. My husband gave it a try as well and got no movement at all. I put a bit of lemon juice on the screws but still no movement.
Finally we gave up.
I'm thinking my options now are:
1. Go and find replacement screws somewhere, and try to cut the existing screws out (a bit risky, not something I've tried before)
2. Give a call to our favourite local handyman and see whether he's got a more powerful electric screwdriver.
3. Leave the fridge alone.
Which would you do?0 -
Just providing an update as I know these sorts of threads come up when people search on DIY topics:
I called in our favourite handyman who replaced the hinges. It took him about two hours and he charged me 20 pounds.
Glad I did it! Just over 20 pounds for hinges, then 20 pounds for labour, so just over 40 pounds for a good-as-new fridge!0
