Barnes, London Accommodation Help Needed

Hi there

I am posting this here as I have put it in the UK holidays section, but had no replies. I hope someone can help.

I live in a shared house in Barnes (at the top end of Barnes, close to St Paul's). My parents are visiting from 14 to 22 September and I arranged months ago with my landlady that it would be ok for them to stay with me.

In the meantime both my housemates have left and two new people have moved in. Things are a lot more noisy now and I am worried about having my elderly parents and three of us already living there in the small space.

I have been desperately Googling apartments in the area, so that they are still close, but have a bit of space to themselves. I am looking at apartments so that we can minimise eating out and so that they have bit more room, but to be honest a b&b or hotel would do as well.

Problem is, everything is so very, very expensive. I have tried all the usual things suggested by people on these forums (checking hotel comparison sites, apartment rental sites, etc) but not having much luck. I wonder if anyone here has any advice at all.

I am running out of time and starting to think I'll just have to book something expensive and worry about the extra cost later, but that fills me with dread.
