Scottish Provident

Hi,

I've never heard of Scottish Provident before, are they a good Life Insurer and reliable at paying out is it a company I should avoid?

They do seem reasonably priced after offer a critical illness cover of a lot lower amount compared to others that only offer critical illness of the full amount which makes their quotes lower.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

Been around donkey's years. Well known insurer.

They haven't been sold for over a decade either. So, the OP hasnt got to worry themselves about legacy issues. Also, moving the returns away from the annual bonus to terminal bonus has been a common trend and largely a result of the financial solvency requirements which see many of these funds run with financial solvency being the driver and not trying to get decent returns.

TBH, if you used endowment performance as a reason not to use protection providers, I don't think we'd have anyone we could do business with...

    L&G
    Aegon
    Scot Prov/Bright Grey (Royal London)
    Friends Life
    Aviva
    Liverpool Vic

    and so on...

Just in my own case, paying for a mortgage was the reason I took out a policy with Scot Prov.
