Hi everyone,
Please help!
I've got a filthy shower hose and it's making me feel ill! It's a silver hose and there's like little bits growing on it?!
I've been putting off cleaning it, but it's gone too far now. I can't unscrew the hose, it's stuck tight and I just don't know what to do
I'll take a photo in a minute & that might help you guys see what I'm faced with.
Thank you.
Ps I've been searching for ages, but couldn't find any threads about this...

Not sure that I want to see a photo to be honest.
Scrub it with a nail brush and neat domestos.
Or get someone to loosen it for you and steep it or buy a new one.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Is it mould or is it limescale (or both).
If you can't remove it, try and lie it out horizontally (might need a bit of creativity here like tieing the shower head to something to get it at roughly the right position. I'd then wrap the hose in slightly damp kitchen roll before pouring some strong bleach along it. That should soak into the kitchen roll and be held nicely in contact with the hose. Leave it as long as you can (if you do it first thing after everyone has showered it should get at least the day if not 24 hours). You can then remove it and using a brush (dish brush and/or old toothbrush) get rid of most of the mould. Might need a repeat the next day.
If its got limescale on it, you'll need to do as above but use some white vinegar. With this leaving it longer than an hour won't help so keep checking and if necessary repeating until the vinegar disolves the limescale.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
Use a old toothbrush to clean it as WestonDave says. I cleaned mine last week as it was all manky and use toothbrush and Viakal and it come up like new.0

it looks like a mix of soap and water/limescale and muck... get scrubbing or just buy a new one, they are about £6 if you only use it as a shower (I get long hoses as we use them off the shower hook to wash hair.)
pour inegar in the top attachment see if you can loosen it, or borrow someone stronger to come have a look and soak the whole thing in really hot water with bleach or washing up liquid and scrub it.

Use rubber gloves, a tooth brush and a little limescale removing toilet cleaner( which is basically what viakal is but a lot cheaper) leave overnight and then rinse in the morningBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Yeah, any old cleaner that contains bleach and a nail brush should do it. It's mould all right, growing in soap scum. But it will come off easily enough. Do it when you're in the shower and you can have a rinse off afterwards!Val.0

one of my fav jobs this! That and cleaning washing machine drawers! I did mine again this morning, toothbrush and spray with cleaner, it will flick everywhere all over tiles/walls but will rinse off easily. U can soak it in vinegar if needed but usually a flick with an old toothbrush gets it off. Toothbrush is fab for swishin around tap and plug fittings, gets any soap scum right off, much quicker than using a cloth on awkward parts. I use cloth/sponge afterwards. I clean 12 houses a week and use toothbrushes for showers hoses and bathroom fittings, not their toothbrushes that would be wrong!!!Life happens when you are busy making other plans

I wrapped it in kitchen roll soaked in White vinegar and left it for a couple of hours & it's looking great now after a good scrubbing! Thank you everyone. I'm going to give it another go in a week to get the last little bits, but it looks fab. Thanks again!!Trying hard to money save....0
