    Great timing.

My EDF Fixed Saver V2 is coming to an end on 30/9/12.

On Tuesday 21/8/12, I used the MSE link to Moneysupermarket to switch to the Scottish Power Fixed term contract so I get the full cashback offer as well (great deal MSE:money:).

I then spoke to EDF to advise them that I was moving to Scottish Power. Spoke to a very helpful lady, who advised me that she would freeze my prices to my current V2 contract until my transfer to Scottish Power is completed. That way I won't be paying their standard tariff charges if the transfer does not happen before 30/9/12.

    Really pleased !!:j:j

"Standing charge was always there, years ago suppliers created tier 1 & 2 pricing to make you think they did away with the standing charge.

So, this shift will only impact you if your problem is frequently vacant"

That's my point though what's special about gas and electricity suppliers? All sorts of other companies manage to get thier costs into a simple single rate.

At present most landlords/letting agents will open a temporary account in thier name when a property is vacant. They aren't going to be keen to do this with a standing charge to pay are they?

With no standing charge suppliers could be losing money on no/low usage properties but this would be more than offset by the millions of property on normal usage not to mention the people using huge amounts who perversely can benefit from tariffs with a standing charge.

  • Went to cap my power with SSE.
Told that I can, but it will be at the new prices which start in October.
Also the direct debit discount is being removed and being offset with a lower daily standing charge.
I can't switch as I am THTC and no one else does it.
I would have to change my heating system to go onto another tarriff.

There are other suppliers with tariffs for THTC such as Npower. Try contacting them as these are complex and switching sites & suppliers websale tools may not show them.
