The reason you were charged more than you expected was probably because of any exchange rate difference if you weren't charged in Sterling.

This is correct. However, the site gives no indication of it being based outside the UK, and the price quoted was in Sterling. There was no mention of any possible conversion charges or that the transaction would take place in any other currency... which, of course, it did.

Not to worry. The bank's taken charge of the whole thing and the full refund via Chargeback is looking likely.

Sounds like the stuff is probably 'fake 925 stamped'? Ie. base metal with a cheap-looking thin covering of 'silver' and a shallow 925 (for sterling) stamp.
Ebay, for instance, is full of this stuff, yes very often from China and the unbelievably cheap prices for 'Pandora' and 'Tiffany' are a giveaway. If you're used to sterling and what it should be and look like, it becomes very easy to spot this c-r@p at first glance. Off to have a nosy at the offending site now...

Oh my.... those 'silver' charms look soooo cheap - what a cheek, con merchants!

Haha! Just tried to use their 'chat live to us 24/7, we're here to help!' jobby - to tell them they're fakers - and all you get is an email form. Wallys!

Yeah, mate of mine said he'd harass them on the chat until I pointed out that they didn't actually have one!

I think you're right on the "hallmark" thing, though that kind of knowledge is more my other half's territory.
