Extend a socket query?

Hi,
doing kitchen at mo and found the double wall socket is an ext from a single socket. I need to put in another double so am extending from that.
It is in the direction of an existing double socket and I just wondered if it would be safer to continue the connection to this other socket to make a circuit. There is only ONE mains fuse in the property as it is a flat.
Also, I note that there is no earth bonding from the Gas meter to the main fuse box, as is required these days, I believe? Should I install one? The run is about 18 feet. Should this be 10mm or will 6mm suffice? This flat will be rented out from next year.
Help appreciated

i would take the spur from the other double socket.
assuming it hasnt already been used for a spur?Get some gorm.0 -
You shouldn't take a spur (extension) from an existing spur (extension). As ormus says, take your spur from the other double socket.
Someone will come along to hep with your earthing query.0 -
Also as well as answering the original queries what does Part 'P' say about adding sockets in a flat wnere you don't have access to the ring main as it is under the floorboards of the upstairs flat?
Is it OK to surface mount a circuit then drop down from that (Channelled into wall) the feed for the socket, provided the T&E is covered and to a depth of 2""Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
As this work is in a kitchen, and you live in England it is notifiable under Part P of the building regs.
You can't take a spur from a spur, or more than 1 spur from the same socket.
It would be better to include all the sockets in the ring main. This should be left to a competent person if you are unsure.
You should use a competent person for the work, links below

I also have a 10mm supply which used to connect the old cooker.
Am I OK to replace old MK socket/switch with 13a socket for a plug in cooker.
What rating fuse should I put in instead of exisiting 30a?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0
