JSA Confusion

Is it normal to have these random payments [that do not tie in with job centre appointments or the weekly amounts due] at the start of a claim?

You don't get anything for the first three days. JSA is paid fortnightly in arrears and you should get paid on the third working day after you sign on, in your case tommorow.0

I used to work at the jobcentre and it can be quite confusing.
You don't get paid for the first 3 days of your claim, which should've been explained - this would eliminate July 30th, 31st and 1st August.
If you just signed on a Monday this week, then I presume you also signed on, on the 6th August, but on the 6th, your claim would probably have been set up by then (new claims take a couple of weeks).
The payment you received on the 16th would probably be for dates the 3rd - 6th August (5 days) so 56 / 7 x 5.
After signing on on Monday (20th), you should receive, either today or tomorrow - 2 weeks worth (£112). If this isn't in your bank tomorrow - i'd suggest you give them a ring.
Hope that helps.0 -
Thank you.

The three day period was not mentioned at all. Instead, I was told you are paid from the day you submit the application. It isn't a problem, I am curious as to why they didn't explain it though.
I'll keep an eye on the bank today/tomorrow.
