Tasty vegetarian gravy? Does it exist?

Hello everyone,

Recently my daughter has reverted to vegetarianism after being a meat eater for a very long time.

My question is - can anyone recommend a tasty vegetarian gravy mix? I've tried the granules from supermarkets and they don't really hit the spot, they seem very bland to both of us. Also, I don't really fancy spending hours roasting and boiling vegetables just to make a bit of gravy (lazy I know).

(Wasn't sure where to post this, hope it's OK on this board!)

Thanks for your replies. Off out shopping soon so I'll have a look out for both of those.

  • Bisto original in the red tub is vegetarian and vegan! Not a hint of meat, check ingredients obviously as sometimes recipes are updated, but you dont have to buy specific vegetarian gravy, not all of them marketed contain meat juices.

I always use some of the water vegetables have been cooked in to make up veggie granules.

Blimey, didn't know that, I just assumed that if the packaging didn't state 'veggie' then it automatically contains meat juices or extracts.

Got a tub of this in the cupboard and checked it out - you're right, no meat products on the ingredients!

Saved me a few bob, thanks!

It still is but they have changed it to Favourite now instead of Original for some reason.

I make my own using Knorr vegetable stock powder as a base. You can add extra herbs etc as you make it to get the flavour that you want.
