Decorating Bathroom - Two questions

Hi,

We've just had the house rewired and as part of this we had an extra light and shaver socket added to the bathroom. Where this was done there is fresh plaster. When we decorate we need to remove the rest of the lining paper in the bathroom, which will expose old plaster.

Q1 - Is there anything we need to do to prep the walls before we paint with bathroom paint?

The bathroom has a large wooden built in cupboard that we'd like to protect. Ideally we'd like to varnish it so that we can keep the wood effect.

Q2 - What varnish is best for the job (yacht varnish)? Or is it better to paint it white and if so with what kind of paint? Is a specialist paint needed?

Thanks in advance.

Q1 a couple of thinned down coats of cheap emulsion would work.

Q2 down to you if you varnish or paint, but you don't need yacht varnish unless it's a sauna :D, just a polyurethane varnish in probably matt or sheen finish rather than gloss
If paint standard gloss from a decent manf will be fine, ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
