Terrylw1 in replay to your question, I don't seem to remember suggesting the amount, but as I said, maybe I sould enquire about listening to the call I made a year ago to find out exactly what was said.0

Have a look at SLC25.10 regarding retaining documentation which may be the recorded verbal agreement.
When reading through SLC25, make sure you are looking at anything not referred as Marketing Activities (this is face-to-face) as you need Telesales Activities. Anything not listed or referenced to Marketing Activities would apply to you.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Thanks for that, I've read the documentation youre referring to, and I'll go through the area you've highlighted again today when I'm putting my not-so-nice letter together for EDF. Much appreciated, as the terms in the document are rather confusing in places!!0

Prompted by you other thread I'd thought I'd come in to this.
Not quite sure what you mean by "this year" (and "£978"). You say no heating since "feb/march" which suggests you had heating before then. £900 for a full year of gas is a little above average, £200 for a full year of electricity is about 1/3 average use. TBH I don't disbelieve you but I feel that cannot be right.
I nearly came in after your first post because I read it as saying you settled (with initial problems) your final British Gas bill and then set up with Edf, but that is not the correct process for a switch. You should have waited until the switch was live and then provided transfer readings to Edf only. I am certain that process error is at the heart of your problems.
Another way of looking at this is that I cannot be confident that your £200/£900 usage is an accurate reflection of your annual metered consumption. To get meaningful help here you need to post more meter readings and details from the relevant bills.0 -
Sorry, when I said 'for the year' I meant aug 2011 to aug 2012. We hadn't received any bills or paperwork for gas since our initial welcome letters and contract in aug 2012 from EDF. We wasn't aware that we were underpaying eachmonth for gas by a siginificant amount, and as a result of this we owed £500 for gas we had used.
The situation was incredibly confusing, but I agree with what you say about the fact that I should have only supplied EDF with initial readings, rather than giving readings to British Gas too. It did turn our that there was a discrepency in the readings, resulting in EDF 'Freezing' our gas account until it had been resolved. However, we hadn't been contacted about this dispute and remained completely unaware of it until a few weeks ago. Fortunately, I found the paper that I scribbled the initial readings on, and BG have agreed to these readings. Theyve debited 4p into our account as a result! Pfft.
Along side this, the EFD representative who set up my contract didn't take all the info they needed to provide me with a realisitic DD amount each month. I couldn't remember what had been said during that initial phonecall where I agreed to DualFuel, and asked to listen to the phonecall I had made. Convieniently they couldnt find that recorded call, so I was never able to find out exactly why I ended up paying an inappropriate DD amount.
However! I have GOOD news!
After following some of the advice given on this thread, a bit of internet research and being rather bolshy with the manager I have been writing to, EDF agreed to pay £360 towards the outstanding £500 balance, leaving us with just £140 to pay. We pay an additional £10 per month to meet this outstanding amount in managable installments. And whats more, I received a sincere apology.
We've set up realisitc DD amounts to cover future gas bills, and Ive started looking into how we can save money by changing the times we have the boiler switched on.
We are also going to get the boiler looked at before the winter months set in, checking insulation around the boiler etc to ensure efficiency.
Thanks every one for your help!!:D0
