Go to your local council offices and ask to speak to someone who deals with Council Tax. You should be able to come to some arrangement with them. Are you on a low income? If so have you put in a claim for Council Tax Benefit?
I know this sort of situation can be very scary but whatever you do please don't ignore it and hope it will go away.
    Good luck.

  • No matter what don't allow them to enter the house under ANY circumstances. Once you invite them in they then are legally allowed to come back and take your stuff!!

Didn't this work for you last time?

Hello, I know this is not the ideal thing to do but I went through the same process with equita last year so I went to the the town hall to explain and was told off the lady dealing with It...DONT ANSWER THE DOOR DONT LET THEM IN DONT SPEAK TO THEM AND EVENTUALLY THEY WILL BRING THE DEBT BACK TO US...this in my eyes is just a waste of everyone's time passing to the bailiff in the first place however the lady was true to her word and the debt did get past back to the council.

Is this the same debt or was that sorted and you are now being chased for a different debt?

the council may well say that once its been sent to the baliffs they can no longer deal with it but as long as you don't open your door to the bailiffs and refuse to deal with them they will send it back to the council - you may have to go to court but if you set up a payment arrangement the court will be understanding .

Opps looks like you have already been given that advise in the past .
