Buying as listed building, applying for 'Listed Building Consent'

Wondered if anyone can shed any light on this for us.

We are buying a grade 2 listed building and want our Sky TV subscription to follow us. We are due to complete next Friday. The house doesn't have a Sky dish and we have to apply for listed building consent to have a Sky dish installed. I spoke to the listed building department last Friday and explained all this, they explained it would take 8 weeks to obtain consent and advised me to submit the application. They sent me the relevant form to my current address (in a totally different county).

I've tried completing the form today. My stumbling block is a section that we have to complete Re. 'Certificate of Ownership'. There's a declaration you have to sign that reads, "I certify that on the day 21 days before the date of this application, nobody except myself was the owner of any part of the land or building to which the application relates".

Obviously we don't own it yet but the way I read it, we have to live there for 21 days before we can submit any application? Has anyone else had any similar experience or can tell me if this is the case?

I tried phoning the department today to get some clarification but was told to phone back on Monday as there is nobody available until then. I can't find any answers on-line or any further information.

Knowing my luck I'm probably going to be stuck paying a Sky subscription for 3-4 months that I can't use :(

You could always cancel your Sky subscription from the day you move and simply sign up again at the different address once you have the consent.

You might even get a better deal that way.

Unfortunately we're tied in for 8 months as we used the 'Home Move' scheme into our current property 4 months ago. We were going to buy a new build and do the same again... never had any intention of buying an old place so never thought this would be an issue. Hindsight!

Fill in the application in the name of the current owners and have them certify ownership?

Why would you want to put a SKY dish on a grade 2 listed property!
I saw on this website a few weeks ago a Sat dish that looked like a metal outside chair! Cost about £200 but it gets around the problem of putting the dish on the side of your new place.

Surely your subscription will still be valid if you wait for the appropriate period before erecting the dish?

Surely it's not a condition of the subscription that you have the dish erected at your new address on the day you move in....?

Try contacting Sky, explaining about the listed building consent and seeing if they will do a break in your agreement. Some companies are nice and will do things like that.

Is there any real chance of getting permission to install a sky dish anyway?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I used to register Planning Applications. (ten years ago, so this is very much IIRC!)

You fill the application in in your name, as you are the applicant, and then you have to fill in the relevant Ownership Certificate . I think in this case it would need to be Certificate B.

You don't have to own a property/land to apply for planning permission on it, but the owner does have to be notified.

Have a look at this link which might help you:

Depends upon how it affects the listed building.

Is the house just listed or also in a conservation area?,
