Car warranty cover help

Hi All,

I need a bit of help. Basically I bought a car last month which came with a 3 month warranty through MB&G. The car has since developed a fault and the ABS pump has failed. The repair cost with parts (Renault only!) is £1350.

They have agreed to the repairs but are insisting that I pay this upfront and they will send me a cheque on confiration of the repairs and print outs from the diagnostic computer.

Obviously this is a hell of bill to pay up front and one which I cannot afford. Is this usual practise ? Do warranty companies expect you to pay up front. Also do I have any grounds to get the garage where I bought the car from to pay up front if this is the case.

Finally if a cannot afford to get the car repaired to I have any grounds to return the car and get my money back.

PS Wasn't sure if this should be in motoring or consumer rights sorry.

Before taking it to the garage triple check you are actually covered as these warranty company's try and get out of paying most of the time, and follow there claims procedure to the letter

"The repairer should then contact us to provide a full detailed estimate complete with parts and labour costs and a description of the cause of failure. They will also need to supply proof of service history, the policy holders name, policy number, registration and current mileage."
