At present I am on ScottishPower Direct October 2012 Offer it will end on 30 September 2012. If I could be bothered to tackle ScottishPower current offer nonsense I would but why bother. They make an offer now telling me what I will pay for Energy saver 20, not compared with what is my current tariff, but instead next year’sstandard rate.
I have compared my current tariff with Energy Saver 20 and I arrive at the f ollowing results
Electricity First 225kwh used each quarter up 4.465%
All/day remaining kWh up 21.766%
Night units per kWh up 21.42%
Gas prices first 670 kWh up 4.635%
All/day remaining kWh up 26.11%
My pension increase for the next 12 months is estimated at 2% where does ScottishPower consider I will fund their fuel charges increase?
Might I suggest that you revise your recommendation?
PS ScottishPower is on a different planet to me!

We're all in the same boat. I've not had a salary increase in 3 years, like many others on this board I expect, yet have had to fund huge increases in gas / electricity and fuel to get to work.0 -
I also am on "ScottishPower Direct October 2012".
I have been recommended by Scottish Power to go for : ScottishPower Energy saver 20
Is there a cheaper alternative that Scottish Power are not telling us?
I remember last year, they made a recomendation (from memory Energy Saving 14) but "ScottishPower Direct October 2012" was cheaper but they didn't tell you that!
Can somebody guide us? Thanks in advance!0 -
Yes i too am in the same boat.I have been looking on their site and the only other one that is favourable is the fixed price energy nov 13.Now for me that is better for the electricity, but worse for gas than the one they are suggesting, the discounted one.And i am quite a heavy electricity user so it makes a lot of sense.
If you do go for the discounted though and they put the prices up,that one will go up.But the fixed price of course won't.
Therefore I am favouring the fixed price but they scare you into doing something sooner rather than later by stating that the offer could be withdrawn at any time.Yet as there are over 5 weeks to go until we actually NEED to change, one wonders how much of a saving it would be to switch now.0 -
Thanks. I checked the fixed energy nov 13 but it looks more expensive for me in the Norweb region
Current tarif:
Electricity : 20.295 / 9.254
Gas : 6.809 /2.466
Online ES 20 (offered by SP):
Electricity : 20.900 / 10.713
Gas : 7.166 /3.159
Online Fixed Nov 2013:
Electricity : 23.004 / 11.393
Gas : 8.684 /3.835
Maybe I will need to go for the Online ES 20 as this seems to be lower for me in the Norweb region.0 -
I wonder why they vary so much by region.Makes it even more difficult to work out a good deal and pass it on to others,as you have just proved!0

For anyone interested that lives in East Midlands. I have applied Scottish Power offer 27 July 2012 Fixed to November 2014 unit prices to my usage during the last eight months.
Using my current billing, should I adopt ScottishPower offer, will increase what I pay a whopping 33%.
Price increases such as I show here is like adopting a cuckoo.
Time to revisit investing more money in home insulation and other energy saving device0
