I bank with RBS and am keeping a careful eye on the situation as the branch network together with my account is due to switch over to Santander shortly. The moment I get a sniff of a problem, I'm off.....

    This is news to me.
  • When I have a problem with any organisation or utility, (this includes banks), I do an internet search - "ceo emails".
I found a very useful site that lists CEO's email addresses, which by writing wisely & politely I usually get replies and/or phone calls from staff in or near the relevant ceo's office.
Or to put it another way, it can help by-pass the usual customer service desk in some far off land where I can't understand what they're saying.
This has added £150+, to my bank balance in varying amounts of compensation!

All these surveys are to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I reckon we'd be best advised if we did our own research before deciding which bank(s) to go with, rather than jumping on some bandwaggon like a lemming. No survey is likely to address all the requirements an individual will have.

Obviously, looking at survey results can be part of the research, but to me, there's a hell of a lot more to choosing an account than just looking at one aspect of the overall package.

Santander have actually been VERY good with me and my mum/dad whenever we've contacted them. Both our account transfers went very smoothly and it's been 100% stress free for the last 8 months :) So I disagree but.. I guess some people do have bad service.

I'd just like to say that I experienced terrible service from the Co-op last year when I tried to switch to their £200 deal.
