Russian Visa : Info for anyone

just a note following my reading this previous thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1727993.
i applied online for some russian visa 2 weeks ago and hand-delivered our passports to the london agency in Gee St. i have to say the service there was fantastic, super efficient and very fast. we did our own applications online, which proved a bit of a pain as so much info is required and i didn't have a lot of it to hand, but the pages are easily saved and a query i had on one question was very quickly answered by email the following day. my visa info was double-checked by the staff member who took it eg checking for mistakes on dates and passport no. so i am sure if you had stupidly made an error they would probably let you know before they processed it. i have seen a lot of sites that charge to be an intermediary for your visa, but frankly as a good mse-r , i took the plunge and avoided them, especially as you have to fill in the online form yourself for them anyway. as far as i can see all you are paying for would be for them to check your spelling and cross reference your dates.
so based on my experience : i would say apply yourself, doublecheck all your info submitted, doublecheck you have all necesary extras like invitations (all these are noted on the visa site itself).
saved several hundred by not going via a visa service and can only commend the agency itself if you visit.
