Item not received

Hi

I wonder if anyone has any advice. I ordered an item off of an online auction site over a month ago and it has not been sent. I paid by cheque, which was cashed over 3 weeks ago. I have emailed, left a message and sent a letter but I have had no reply. I received an email at first saying she had received my cheque and was going to send the item but since then nothing. (she had a fair amount of positive feedback previously).

I have notified the support department and they have taken her auctions off the site but it seems because I paid by cheque there is no way of getting my money back. Now it wasn't a large amount of money but basically it's the principle. Do you think it's a good idea to email again and threaten to notify the police even though it's for a small amount of money? or just resign myself to losing my money?

I think you have probablylost your money.

By all means threaten the police, but I don't think many scammers are particularly worried as they know the police are unlikely to do anything.

If the amount was high, and your post suggests it wasn't, then small claims is always an option.
