IVA Completion dragged out by another three months

Options
Hi all, Hoping someone can advise me.

I started a IVA in September 2006, and finished paying my contributions in September 2011. Once I finished paying it took until February 2012 to finally get my Completion certificate issued, Which is the satisfied date shown on my credit report.

Does this mean that the IVA record wont drop off my credit file until Feb 2013? or is it six years from the start date?

I know it's only a few months difference, But I would really like a proper current account.

Thanks
James

Hello, it will drop off 6 years from the date of entry, so it should drop off in September 2012 (but allow a few weeks for the credit reference agencies to update their records).

Any defaults will also drop off 6 years after the date of entry and it is important to note that defaults for debts included in your IVA cannot be dated later than your IVA commencement date. If you have any added whilst you were making IVA contributions you can apply to both the credit reference agencies and the lender to have the dates adjusted (you will need to provide evidence that they were included in the IVA).

    Thanks balmk.
All but one of my creditors have the start date as sept 06 so they should all be going in a month, with the final one being dated as oct 06, So don't see the point in going through the process for something thats going to drop off a month later.

    Thanks for the info!

    James

  • Well in 4 days time my Equifax Credit file will be completely clear of any defaults or mention of my IVA :) Anyone that is looking to clean up their file, I'd like to say that Equifax have been brilliant! One quick online message to them to state the dates on the agreements were wrong and a few days later they were all changed!

Sadly this is not the case with experian, who I'm going round in circles with just to be able to sign up to them.....and so the whole process starts again.

  • I had the same problem with Experian following the end of my IVA - threatened them with the Information Commissioner in the end. Then, a couple of months later my IVA appeared back on my report. When I contacted them they said it was an IT glitch but refused to remove it manually. More threats of Information Commissioner and it was removed again. Shocking.
