Giving travel insurance details to hotel

Well that will certainly get the holiday off on the right foot. The OP didn't say they insisted, merely that they asked. A polite "no" will suffice if he/she doesn't want to give the information.
Can anyone explain what dastardly deed this hotel might commit once they have these oh-so-sensitive insurance details?
Dodgy grub, brother works in private hospital where ambulance takes you and you are strangely ill for many days. (Travels and expereience in Asia make you cynical/careful).
I have met a number of people who wen't back to UK with diagnosed serious problems and scans/x-rays to prove it. Turned out x-rays showed serious problems, not their serious problems just problems for whoever the x-ray was of!0 -

You can give them insurers name but do not give policy number. Armed with the policy number it is possible to claim back the 'excess' you would have to pay on your policy particularly via a medical 'emergency'.0
