MopneySupermarket.com et al

Options
When I got an online quotation from moneysupermarket.com for house insurance I received two calls from insurance companies within five minutes, offering to sell me insurance.

I looked at my MoneySupermarket.com account but there was no option to remove myself from any marketing calls/emails/texts. I rang MoneySupermarket.com and they confirmed it is not possible to opt-out from marketing on an existing account!

The only option MoneySupermarket.com could provide was to delete my account, but they confirmed that would not stop any marketing calls from anyone they had already passed my details onto.

Companies employ all sorts of trick to ensure you are opted-in to marketing contact so I now ensure that I opt-out by a good old-fashioned method...

My name: Mr. No Marketing
My address: Fake (where possible)
My home phone number: 01000 000000
My mobile phone number: 07000 000000
My email address: Sends everything to SPAM

Once I have found the quote I am looking for, I log into the insurarance company's website for a fresh quotation.

I go one better and once I have found the cheapest go through a cashback site. That way I get the cashback and not moneysupermarket.
