electricity monitor

Does anyone have an electricity monitor? Is it any good? Does it reduce electricity use or help see what you are wasting?

Is there anything similar for gas?

    Hi,
Yes I've got an electricity monitor it does make you aware of how much electricity you are using/wasting. Mine has various settings but we keep our on how many pennies per minute are being used. When we first had it I became a bit obsessed!! But that has calmed down now.It has made us be more careful about leaving lights on or leaving things on standby.Another pet hate is us all watching the same channel on the tv but using three tv's (kids in bedrooms)this is declining now kids not overly happy!! To be fair they have joined in with trying to cut bills as much as possible so on the whole I would recommend getting one.

I actually got mine for free from EAGA by appliying under my mother's name she qualified due to pension credit and was happy for me to have it.

I have only had my energy monitor about 3 months and it certainly has stopped me leaving things on standy which I am terrible at doing. It is also fascinating watching how many pennies each appliance uses when you switch it on. I have yet to study my elec bill. I am also on econ 7 and try to load on all my appliances and laptop, phones at night. My monthly dd is £48 for gas and elec.
