No response from non paying bidder - feedback query?

Am having a nightmare with ebay at the moment. Don't usually sell, but doing a major declutter and needs must. I have a non paying bidder who has totally ignored me, I sent 2 invoices and a very polite final reminder email on day 7 but heard nothing. I therefore reported them last Saturday which was day 10 but still nothing, they haven't responded to the dispute.

I know they've still got a couple of days yet, but assuming they don't reply, is it 100% definite that if they don't respond by the end of day 7 and I close the dispute, they absolutely cannot leave me negative feedback but I can do so for them?

Looking at their feedback, he has had 2 negs left for him (neither time was his fault to be fair), but both times he managed to get it withdrawn by mutual agreement as clearly the other party did not want the neg they had received from him.

  • Thanks for that purple, I was wondering the same, so will wait with interest.
  • I think you can close the dispute after 7 days have passed.

They are able to leave feedback. However, the rating (positive/negative) won't count towards your overall total. The comment that they leave will remain. Underneath the comment it will say something like:

'eBay:Rating withdrawn because buyer didn't respond to NPB alert'

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.

Thanks for that. How annoying that they can still tarnish your reputation with a comment that remains on your record - at the rate I use ebay it will take a few weeks to drop off my feedback screen if he decides to take umbrage.

Any idea whether you can leave a response to their comment in the usual way?

I think the effect of tarnishing your record is diminished significantly when people can see they didn't bother to pay, or even respond to the dispute...
