Lost Bursary Payment

Hello everyone first time poster!! so go easy on me!!
Basically my issue is that years ago before I met her my girlfriend was at college and due to some sort of issue her bursary which shouold have been payed into her bank account was accidently payed into the wrong account.
She tried and tried for months and months to get this sorted out with both the bursary company and the bank claiming it was the other parties fault! So nothing was done about it. My GF eventually became to stressed and upset to pursue this any further and forgot about it.
She recently mentioned this to me and me being the man I am thought there must be some way of trying to recoup this money!!
So she contacted the bank recently who said that due to the length of time there was nothing they could do
She doesnt really have much of the evidence to show any of the dealings regarding this situation. (Would/should) the bank have these details
And is there anything that can be done or is this a hopeless case??
Any help would be gratefully accepeted
Thanks
Ian

It's really something that needs to be addressed by the bursary provider. You would think that they would want it to go to the right person.
I had a bursary at uni, and one year it was sent to the wrong address, luckily it was a cheque, so it was cancelled and another cheque sent out to me.
If the organisation providing it, dont want to pursue it or issue her with it correctly, I don't think there's much to be done

If you are going back quite a few years then I'm afraid I don't fancy your chances. I would start with the bursary provider rather then the bank - if the bank haven't received it they're not going to have any details. Also, how did it go into the wrong account - was it a mistake on the part of the bursary or did your gf give them incorrect details. If it's the latter she'll have very little comeback on it.
See if you can get something in writing from the bursary provider stating the amount, date and the exact bank account the money was supposed to go into.0 -
