Things to do in Devon

Hello,

I'm off to Devon (Exmouth specifically) in a couple of weeks.

I have a 2 year old and am looking at things to do and vouchers to get in to places as I am on a very tight budget!!

I have seen both the World of Country Life and Bicton Park Gardens which both look great, does anyone know of any vouchers to get in cheaply....a google search isn't coming up with much :-(

Thanks

There are some public Barbecues on a bit of grass which you can book, for free, through the Council: http://www.eastdevon.gov.uk/barbecues_on_beaches - The Maer.

Also, check out Trago Mills at Newton Abbot. Day ticket for 10 rides £4.99 (50p each), no other charges. http://www.trago.co.uk/center/Newton_Abbot.html

In Exeter, the Underground Tunnels (old water tunnels), although I'm not sure it's worth the cost: http://www.exeter.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2916&listid=2914 (£2/person seems fairer).

    Free volleyball courts: http://www.exmouthbeachvolleyball.com/courts.php

Crealy is certainly very close, good day out if you can source some vouchers.

The train from Exmouth along the coast to Torquay (£7.80 adult day return) or Teignmouth (£5.60 adult day return) is superb.

Take a visit to Budleigh Salterton for the best ice cream in the area. The Creamery is on the main road to the beach. Great to park up and take a walk with an ice cream.

Sidmouth is a lovely little Victorian town, very sedate, nice beach. Good coast road from Budleigh past Lladram to Sidmouth.

Bicton Park is fine, if you can find a voucher. Train ride good for little uns.

Further afield, my favouite is Branscombe beach, great pub in the village centre, lovely shingle beach. Or inland - Dartmoor Widecombe in the Moor is pretty, Brixham is ok, Paignton for a good water park.

We holiday at Haven in Exmouth every year.

World of country life you may get an online booking discount.Other than that, unless you're staying at Haven,I don't think there are any other discounts and you'll probably be too late for the summer passport.

If you book online with Crealy there is a 10% discount and you can go back free for 6 days.

Not sure what else to recommend that hasn't already been mentioned. How far around would you be happy to travel?
