Opened my mail today. It all lands in a little neat box inside my door.
Got a tax refund - £280 - really didn't expect that - WOOHOOO!
Opened next envelope - home insurance due for renewal - £370 - Oh...
Ah well, I wonder what the mail will bring tomorrow. It's like playing a personal one armed bandit installed in my house every day. Lol.

Look at it this way - you'd have to pay the insurance anyway; hopefully you were prepared for the bill for that to arrive (I have renewal dates all programmed into my PDA so no unexpected bills), and you have an unexpected £280 to put towards it.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

My sympathies, hubby paid out over £600 the weekend on car and caravan insurances.:(This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

This post made me smile0 -
for goodness sake get MSE on that house insurance! We've had subsidence and don't pay that much.0

The quote for the insurance does seem very steep. I guess it depends on the type and size of property you have. I would be making sure it was still competitive though before forking out that much.
Also do you have to pay it in one lump sum? I am with an insurance company that lets me pay monthly and doesn't charge a premium for doing so.
See the money you weren't expecting to arrive as a handy little sum to put towards this annual expense. Shame you cant just blow the lot on something more exciting thoughThe best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0
