vodafone, I've downgraded

I took out a £25.99 contract in January 2011 which came with chequebacks from phones4u. I have all the chequebacks now and I wanted to downgrade my contract.

On 'my account' it said I could downgrade from 22nd October this year (75 days before end of contract). I have just rung vodafone and they have said that they can take my contract down to £20 a month (with the same number of mins/texts/data usage ). I have not extended my contract. I double checked this.

They have also said that on 22nd October I can ring back up and get the contract taken down to the minimum - which I think is £10 a month. They said that I can then take out a new contract if I want and scrap my old one. (I dont want to through)

I have definately got the contract taken down by £6 a month for the next 2 months, but do you think she meant that I can only take it down to the minimum in October by extending the contract?
