Double glazing on the web and Victoria plumb

We are presently attending to the issues raised in our building survey.
The house is a keeper so we wanted to do it right but with VFM always in mind.
We recently had 2 firms in to do some work and I wanted to pass on my totally independant reviews of each, maybe they will help you decide, maybe not.

First up, Double glazing.
The back of the house needed doing, as did the bathroom window as we have had a new bathroom fitted.
I was recommended on here to use a company called www.doubleglazingontheweb.co.uk
I was intially sceptical because they were so cheap and available straight away, but the surveyor came to our house and met with my wife to discuss things.
He suggested that a couple of extras were required and I thought this was how they were going to run the bill up, but to their credit it came to an extra £32.
Next I get a phone call saying that the DGU's were broken in transit, they had my deposit of 20% and I had no assets, worrying, but not beyond the realm of possibility so I let it run.
Yesterday the fitter came to the house and did a bang up job, neat, tidy, cleared up afterwards and was polite.
The only sleight on the matter was that I wanted to keep the old units for my new shed build but the fitter gave them away to a !!!!!.
I mentioned this when paying and the guy on the phone offered to sort me out with something appropriate when I needed, and based on the service thus far I have no doubt this will be the case.
All in all, a 10/10 service and the price was bang on.
Thoroughly recommended to be honest.

As mentioned above, we also had a suite delivered from www.victoriaplumb.com to have our bathroom refitted.
The delivery costs are extortionate, there is no way else to describe this!
I was recommended to them by a friend, and importantly, their plumber who stated it was good kit. Good enough, plus they offered a next day delivery option that would bail me out the brown stuff as my plumber started in 3 days.

I then searched about the web and my heart sank, very poor reviews and worse customer service, damn, may have dropped a ball here.
So I ordered by phone, maybe this is where the issue is as most of the web reviews were online ordering and the lady on the phone told me that my sink was out of stock.
So I ordered a bath, panel and vanity.
The delivery was indeed next day, although (from memory) I paid £50 for this, ouch!
If I wanted ordinary delivery it was still £40, double ouch and this price strands if you ordera whole bathroom or just a simple washer, plan your order, order once!
The delivery was on time, the kit looks good enough, the bath is nicely reinforced acryllic with batten on all four sides, the mdf is thick enough and the veneer looks to be durable and robust.
I didnt have to return anything or replace anything and I think that this is where they may hacve fallen down in the past.

Once fitted the bath is a little more flexible in-situ than it felt but as long as you don't kick it then it will be ok, also there are two small dings that will need repair but again nothing major.
I recommend them, but recommend them ont he basis you order by phone and get them to reiterate that items are in stock and ready to go out.

Good luck

I had a terrible experience with Victoria Plumb and wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. I can't see that ordering online rather than over the phone made a difference. The goods were in stock and were despatched on time. They were broke when they got here. So was the replacement. Then the second replacement was the wrong item. I gave up in the end and eventually got a full refund after a lot of aggro. The staff in customer service don't know the meaning of the words 'customer service'!

My research showed a lot of stuff ordered online and showing in stock actually wasn't. This would be a major gripe for me.
Also, I was lucky in as much as the stuff I had delivered was in good order, hence no need for customer services, which again I researched as being totally rubbish!
