how to reboot a fare

Hi can anyone tell me how to reboot a fare into a new promotion as they are offered weekly after final payment has been made?

I am sailing with Cunard in September and when the holiday was paid for last year the price was £1679 per person, it is now down to £849 person, just don't believe this is fair, please excuse the pun.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Unless Cunard has some sort of price promise policy I don't know that there's much you can do. Of course this is assuming your trip cannot be cancelled for a full or partial refund. Don't see what's unfair about it, if the price had increased I presume you wouldn't have been happy if Cunard had asked you to pay more,.

Did you think it was fair when you paid for it last year? Then how is it not fair now? If the price had gone up rather than down in the meantime, would it have been fair for Cunard to expect you to pay the difference?

If you can cancel the old one without penalty, and then rebook the new one specifically at that price, then why not?

The two potential issues I see are, allowing the cancellation at zero/low cost, and actually obtaining an identical holiday at the new price, since availability is fluid..

Confirm that you can cancel the old one, then book the new one, then cancel the old one.
  • Hi I just know that there is a way to get a reduction in my fare just unsure how to go about it - believe it could be a "trade secret" lol - ty for your comments anyway. Kind regards.

I would take this with a large pinch of salt, but the best case for you is that you are sailing at the end of September (you haven't said), in which case you could get a 50% refund.

Which of course is completely useless.

Forget about it and enjoy your cruise.

I have booked a cruise with an American Travel Agent as it seems over there they will honour price drops.

"The final payment then is due by September 22 and if there are any possible price drops or better deals on your cabin before that date, then you are eligible for the better offer, so not to worry!"

Why would you book something at a price you found fair, then continue to check the prices?

Not helpful to OP, but P&O now do a price promise which has come into play since we booked a cruise last year.

If the price of a cruise drops below what you paid you will receive a refund in the form of onboard credit/free parking or something else which I can't remember. So far we've received £120 onboard credit. As good as cash for us as we will use it for drinks, excursions etc.
