minimum payment required despite zeo balance

i have just been informed by Marks & Spencer that even if your account balance is Zero by virtue of you having returned items to clear your balance, you still need to pay a minimum sum into your account. Is this correct?

Quite possibly. Many lenders do not count refunds towards min payments.

It depends on whether your statement was produced before the refund was registered.
So if you have a statement balance and a direct debit, regardless of whether a payment was made before the bill due date, you may have to call through to stop them taking a payment.

Certainly likely. Until you use the card again (or close it) it will retain a positive balance; you're not actually losing any money.
