Barclaycard can't find my account

Hi

i paid off my Barclaycard back in Feb 2010 and now tring to claim the PPi on it but i shreeded all my statements back when it finished so don't know my account number or anything. but contacted barclaycard and they can't find any records even searching my name and address but I did the same with capital one yet they found my details straight away.

Is there anyway to find it or should barclaycard be able to find and they are just trying to get out of it as they are meant to keep records for upto 30 years i heard

I think Barclays may have bigger problems at present than trying to weasle of giving you your few quid of PPI back. I think you'll find they're being honest, even if incompetent.

They should keep records for 6 years. All you can do is keep trying and see if you can find something with an account number on. Perhaps an old bank statement wil have the last few digits on it from when you made a payment.

I gave the a copy of a bank statement with a payment made and reference number but they still could not find it.
