Princess cruises - anyone done one?

I have just booked an amazing offer with Princess cruises because I like the itinerary. On looking at it the boat looks pretty good too but pictures can lie of course! I am just wondering if anyone has ever done one and what was it like. It is the Crown Princess. I am not too bothered about the boat, but I just liked the places it goes to.
I went on a Thomson cruise a few years ago because I fancied the places and it was definitely budget, but this looks quite nice.
Just would like others' take on it.

    Thanks for this Lissy.
So excited now. We just booked because it was such a bargain and fancied some of the places.
    What is the food like?
From what I have read, there is a dining room where you get your main meals, but do you have to pay for the other resaurants?
  • Have you opted for anytime or traditional? Basically traditional is a st time for tea/dinner anytime you go when your ready down to one of the two anytime dining rooms menu is same in all at dinner. Additional free eats are the buffet which is open from around 06:30 till 23:00 breakfast can be taken in buffet or main dining room lunch buffet or main dining room additionally is the grill up by the pool serves burgers hot dais pizza etc then the international cafe with the most amazing pastries cakes muffins cookies salads paninis etc..... Open most of the day and my favourite then you have room service of course that does breakfast pastries muffins etc..... The you have two pay for restaurants for dinner options crown grill steaks etc.... Or sabatinis Italian and the most amazing Italian I have ever tasted (my mums Sicilian and she loved it!!) although you pay well worth a visit but starve before hand!!!!!! I think that's it lol for food trust me you will not starve and I reccomend several laps of the deck to counteract the pounds that you gain ;-))

I've got a friend that cruises regularly and she says that Princess is the best cruise line, great service and it feels like real luxury. We went on a P&O cruise a couple of years ago and that was great too.

Princess are fine, main stream, monster ships compared to thomsons.

    whats the deal?

For lots of info then cruisecritic is the place to go and sign up for the rollcall.
I will post the links once the date is known.
  • We had a 20 day cruise on the Emerald Princess earlier this year. The worst cruise ever, never again. Their hygene standards are the worst we have ever experienced and I would recommend you take a hand gel and start praying now.

Their ships should be renamed as Princess Novovirus.

What about "Bubonic Princess" for their next ship?

Wow when we're on grand there was hand gel all over the ship and at every eating station, although a pointless task to be fair as very few hand gels prevent Noro virus soap and water the only way. Also at the buffet servers wore gloves and stuff I didn't see any bad practice on the grand and am a nurse so a bit OTT in the hygiene department lol

Oh my goodness. What was wrong? You have got me worried now!
  • What was the deal and where did you see it? I'd like to take my elderly mum to La Coruna to see friends and think a cruise might be nicer than flying. Princess do a 7 night on the Crown Princess which would be long enough.
