Hi Guys,
8 months ago I bought a bag for my daughter online, recently the zip has broken on it and I can't seem to get it fixed. The retailer I originally bought it from won't accept it back saying it is wear and tear. What are my rights?
Cheers!

Was the fault inherent at time of purchase? It is up to you to demonstrate that it was, otherwise 'wear and tear' is probably a fair defence.
Price may have some factor in this - genuine 'Gucci' I'd expect a resolution, 'Goochy' from a market stall, less so...0 -
How much did it cost?Thinking critically since 1996....0

It is £40 and it was a lacoste bag. I'm pretty sure it is genuine :S0

Can you not replace it yourself? It would be much less hassle than chasing the retailer.0

£5/month for the use of the bag - may not be unreasonable depending on how it was used. £40 would certainly be at the bottom end of their range, was the shop reputable? Perhaps get in touch with Lacoste directly (lacoste.com) with photos saying how disappointed you were blah blah and can they help? Maybe they can for the good of their brand/reputation, or can certainly let you know if the goods are pukka. And if they are not pukka, that shop had better refund you pronto ;-)0
