The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) entitles you to claim for refund if there has been an emergency abroad. But finding out how to go about doing it seems to be very difficult to track down.
My mother who lives in London, was abroad for a trip to Sweden to visit family members, she of course has her EHIC and was taken to hospital after feeling unwell.
All the treatments was recorded as an EMERGENCY and she found health again. She is now back in the UK.
Any advice on how to go about claiming a refund for those expenses or any websites that can lead to more information on this would really be appreciated.

Try here.
It say this;
If you need to make a claim once you return to the UK, call the Overseas Healthcare Team on 0191 218 1999 (Mondy to Friday, 8am–5pm). You will need your National Insurance number and UK bank or building society details to hand.
Remember to keep all receipts and any paperwork (make copies if necessary). You or your insurance company may need them if you're applying for a refund or reimbursement.0 -
Thank you so much!
I called Overseas Healthcare team and they were very nice, got some basic contact details, filled in an initial form. Needed my mums National Insurance number and her bank details and now they are sending an application form for me to fill in so I can attach the receipts from all the expenses abroad.
I will keep you posted.0
