I think it's telling me that the batterie is running out but I can't open the stupid thing to change it.
It's driving me nuts and more importantly keeping the baby awake.
Can anyone help PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
I'm reliving that episode in Friends where Phoebe's smoke dectector keeps beeping all night long!!!

Hello npsmama
I would be tempted to unscrew it from the ceiling and move it to another room or the hall/landing...............where the beeping noise won't disturb the baby.
Then tomorrow, make sure you buy a replacement smoke detector to fit in its' place. Please don't throw out the existing (beeping) detector until you've fitted a replacement. Don't leave your home without a fitted and working smoke detector(s).;)
If (once you've taken the beeping detector down) you can open it up, simply replace the battery and you'll save yourself the expense of buying a replacement detector.

They normally twist on their bases to remove the whole thing then the battery will be accesable from the back.
Usually its about a quarter turn anti clockwise.
I feel your pain, last week our neighbour was away when his battery went, bleeping for two days and nights solid.0 -
change your battery on the smoke alarm i had the same problem with mine0

Mine did that once and I ended up smashing it off the ceiling with a bottle of Jack Daniels when my head felt like it was going to blow up - I wouldn't recommend this solution, but it was awfully satisfying!0

You didn't read the OP's post.
To open the unit often they just require a reasonable tug downwards and the face flips open. 99% of the time they are powered by a 9v PP3 battery, when open you could just leave it out temporarily if you don't have suitable spare, but for all their annoinces, smoke detectors save lives, so get a new battery!0 -
If that doesn't work whack it with a hammer and take out the battery then put up a new one.Nothing to see here, move along.0

A quick money-saving tip - contact your local fire brigade before buying a replacement. They may come and do a free fire safety check and will fit new smoke alarms etc. for you. As you have a baby you should qualify...That's Numberwang!0

I got two smoke alarms free last month, 4 of them came in the fire engine, lol. Fitted for free with long life batteries0
