You would have to cancel the payment and repay, but just make sure you send the money for goods not as a gift, you can input the ebay item number and it will cover you for your buyer protection.

hi all, this is still dragging on. I asked on Friday if they were any closer to getting the matter resolved and they told me they should be accepting the payment that night, then today I recieve this email:

This is now the third different email address they have given me. The original one, the one for their 'daughter' and now this one.

Does this sound like something ebay would tell someone to do? (I don't ever really sell anything on there so unsure).

I would appreciate any help/advice on how to proceed.

I wonder what would happen if you contacted ebay customer services and asked them to confirm that they had advised your seller to do this.

Personally I wouldn't pay the money to this account unless I had some confirmation from ebay. But I'm a cynical old so-and-so.

Hotmail addresses don't inspire confidence, you could wait to see if it turns up as they have said it's on it's way.

Give it a couple more days and open a dispute.

With this particular seller and the possible issues discussed, I would cancel the payment and wait until the goods arrive then make a payment for “Goods” to the alternate address.

The buyer pays the £30 as a gift and pays all the fees ( 3.4% +20p)

    As has been said befor,

Paypal should just do away with gift payments and save us all the hassle of these scams. This, coupled with a zero feedback seller means it's almost certainly a scammer. What else did/does he have for sale ?
  • A gift payment is fee free. They will receive the full amount which is why they might have asked. Not necessarily a scam but be careful. ALSO, pending payment can happen if they entered the wrong email in their auction.

yep that has all been covered in the thread, but is slightly more complicated than a straight wrong email issue.

Personally I would think about walking away from this purchase now. Whether the sellers problems are genuine or not, the fact that they can't seem to co-ordinate a simple payment doesn't bode well if any other issues arise.
