I had this done by a GP here in Thailand and the UK bank I sent it to was perfectly happy with it.
Can you give me some examples of UK banks (preferably taking R105) that are less 'strict' on this than say Investec? Cheers.0 -

Won't you have to (pay and) renew the bloody thing in 5 or 10 yrs time though? photoless versions are free for life

Haha. Surely if you live in Thailand you had to make up a UK address for the new licence though? (Did they ask for proof like wot the banks do, I'm guessing they're getting as strict as everyone else these days or could it be that it is enough to remain on the electoral roll).0 -

Serious comment (from past experience!) - I wouldn't put it past them to delay sending it back or mislay it or for it to go missing in the post. Imagine being abroad without a valid DL & unable to rent a car on hols etc.0 -

... you can use address you like in GB to get a GB licence, the only "proof" required is the ability to access the postbox (or knock out the postman, etc etc). If someone lives in Thailand they should technically be using a Thai licence, but the DVLA is not going to investigate.0
