Great Service from Dell, shame about Currys!

Options
I bought a Dell laptop from Curry's which was ex-display but they didn't give me a discount just some backup discs which I could have made myself and claimed they were worth £35. I expected my laptop to be in perfect working order (obvs I was being a bit naive).

I found out a few months later that the battery wasn't holding it's charge (prob a result of being ex-display). I wouldn't mind this if the laptop had been discounted but I paid full price. Anyway phoned Curry's who gave me a Dell number that didn't actually go to the UK Customer Service. I Googled and got the correct number and through to Dell.

It was an overseas call centre but they spoke clear English and took me through every step to check my laptop/system and battery explainng everything and giveing me the direct number to the service team as well as any extra info I needed if I had to phone back.

After establishing I definitely needed a new battery the technician said he'd call me back the next day to get my work address to send a battery too. He called me 5 times during the day becuase he couldn't get through (I was called into meetings all day) and left a voicemail to say it would be sent to my house but I can give an alternative address with UPS if I wouldn't be there. He then phoned me again at 8.30pm to make sure I knew the battery was being delivered the next day! I managed to get it delivered to work.

I often hear of how bad the service is from Dell but they were great on this occasion sending me a fully working battery the next working day and calling back when they said they would.

So thanks Dell and I will not be buying from PC World again anytime soon.
