Multicar Discount

Hi All, am after a bit of advice and i think also one to watch out for.

Followed MSE advice earlier in year and went with a multicar insurance company, it was excellent and we saved money (all good). We insured my wifes car (Car A) and said that in the future we would insure my car (Car B) when the renewal came up in August.
We sold my car (Car B) and bought a new one a month later (Car C) and insured with the Company straight away.
We didn't give any more thought to Car B until we got a letter a week ago saying that payment for the insurance for car B will be taken in a couple of weeks.
We phoned them to say we had sold the car and that we wouldn't need the policy and they said that we had already had the discount and we now had to repay £65.
I explained that we had never insured the car with them but apparently that made no difference, we had had 3 car discount on our policy.
I am arguing with them as we speak but am a bit baffled as to why we were given 3 car discount when at any one time we only had 2 cars insured with them. ??

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thank you,

Moris

They gave you a "special" price originally, based on car B coming along in August.

When you asked for the new car to be added, they have taken this to be a third car (and given a special price for this too), without realising you were only bringing 2 cars in total.

Now the truth has dawned they want to claw back the "extra" discount you got when they thought you were bringing 3 cars to them.

Keep moaning and they might just cave in to keep you as a customer!
  • Thanks for the reply Quentin,

Have tried moaning, have been moaning to the customer services manager in India for about 30 mins this afternoon and that got me nowhere, they said they would take payment and i said it would not be authorised and that is where we are at the moment, he has given me 10 to think it over????

The bit that annoys me most is that during the initial call the advisor said that Car B was mentioned on the documents, it isn't at all, in fact when I logged on to my documents section of their website and downloaded all the documents to check there was definitely no mention of that car, but as we were looking a new section suddenly appeared say Pending for that vehicle, so it had so obviously just been input.

Leaves a really bad taste in the mouth,
