Does anyone know how echeques work? I sold an item on eBay last Monday (13th) and PayPal has informed me that the buyer is paying by echeque. I see that is should have cleared by today (that's the date given on PayPal) but nothing has shown on the acct. should I send item or still wait? And incidentally, why do people use echeques? Many thanks.

They often take a day longer to clear than PayPal suggest but don't send until it does say cleared. I assume you contacted the buyer to explain the delay?
As for why buyers use them, most don't do it deliberately and a normal payment just gets converted and they don't even know it.
It always amuses me that about half of my paypal fee payments to ebay get converted to an echeque and they have to wait for payment.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
