section 62 hmo

Hi I gave a notification to my council of my intentions of change the use of my house from HMO to a single-family dwelling. The tenants on my house are my friends so they will leave voluntarily.

Can my council persecute me or make me problems if my tenants go voluntarily?

Please note I don’t have the full license yet only a draft license.

My friends has live on my house for about 10 months and during this 10 months my house should be licensed.

I understant that i can't give a noticed to quit if I don't have the full license but if they leave voluntarily.?

many thanks

  • So you want to convert a HMO to back into a single dwelling house? Why would the council have any issues???

If your tenants are leaving anyway, then where's the problem? As you’re going to do the works after they leave, are you not???

If you were doing it the other way i.e... Changing a single dwelling house into a HMO, then the council would be interested in your plans and boy would they be!!! :(

And why are you worrying about licences, if the tenants are leaving and you’re converting it back into a single dwelling???

Your not smoking some wacky backy are you? :D
