Downgrade from Platinum account?

I am going to get a PPI settlement soon and once I have paid off my overdraft, I am wanting to down grade from a platinum current account to a bog standard current account (not a basic account). I am not getting any value for money for the £17 per month charge to have the platinum account.
It is a very simple job to upgrade your account but I have a feeling that if I want to down grade it wont be quite so easy.
Does anyone have any experience of down grading their bank account? I have a platinum account now, but since opening this i have accumulated a CCJ. I am thinking that if I ask to down grade, they may want to credit check me again and I will end up with a very basic bank account, which is not what I want.
Any ideas/thoughts anyone?

It will be - branches have forms for you or you could just write a letter to the bank.0
