Good question , had me worried my first time. Now been 5 years running ai , mainly in Turkey , but guessing it will be similar.
I was so worried , i went back to reception !
You tend to walk around the hotel with no money ...... why should you carry any , all is provided. But you normally see a box on the bar or in the Dining room , use this the same way as you would in UK . Good service gets a tip ...... standard service doesn't. So when you are 'carrying' think how is the service going and use / avoid ? the box's.
Ps I have found the service at AI better than expected , staff are more relaxed , they don't have to worry about bills , so just hand over the drinks. Also the service is much quicker... no money changes hands.0 -
We usually tip 50 euros to the maid and restaurant manager after week one... but i don't know what the service is like in your hotel..tip if it is good service and good food, if not do not bother...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

We usually leave 20-30 Euros for the maid, the All Inclusive hotels we've stayed in over the last few years have all had tip boxes at the bar and in the restaurant, we've just disposed of loose change as and when and then 10-20 euros on our last day, where we've had personal service from a waiter or from bar staff, we always give a small tip. Not sure about Spain but certainly in Tunisia some hotels allocate you a waiter we have always given him/her 20 Dinar on the last day. Rule of thumb for me is if you have to fetch your own drinks and serve your own food then use the tip boxes.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Its really a personal choice, and also depends on what hotel your staying in.
We'd normally leave between 20 to 30 euros for the maid at the end of our stay, and maybe tip between 5 to 10 euros each night to the waiter depending upon how good he/she was. We might only tip every second night if we're staying for 2 weeks.
We sometimes also find you if tip well on the first night of your stay then they will look after you for the rest of the time your at the hotel.0 -
I always drop some change in the tip jar on the bar the first day then you tend to get served quickly and they often remember what you want.0

Cor i don't know where some of you people go on holiday too, i thought i was quite generous but i wouldn't tip between 20-50euros for the cleaner and def not 5-10 euros for the waiter a night blinkin heck, think i might need to change my occupation.0

My experience is that English don't tip. If you go to an AI mainly visited by Americans (not Spain, but Caribbean, Mexico, etc.), then they will carry dollar bills in the swimming pool with them (yes they get wet!) and wave them around when they want a drink. Horrendous.0

I agree with you. I usually tip the cleaner/maid £1/€1/$1 per day at the end of the holiday. I also tip the barman the same amount each night if he is good and looks after me.
As for waiters, it depends on the mood I am in or how attentive he/she is.
