Which financial institution are you with?
I'd have thought you'd much rather change "institutions" and shop as safely as possible, as opposed to avoiding reputable businesses.Started August 2012
Payday loan: £378 | Capital One: £321 | Aqua: £648 | Car Finance: £750 | Phone Contract: £280 | Family: £690
Total: £30670 -
If your bank is not registered with it, it will simply bypass VbV. You can still shop at those merchants.0

If your card isn't registered, you will not be asked any VbV questions. Your financial institution also has to signup to VbV before the page shows up.0

Amazon do not use VBV or MS.......:T
You are aware that retailers pay for being able to use this extra level of security. So many trust their own checks.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

It really depends on your banks implementation, I like the way Lloyds TSB seem to have it implemented. Most of the time it will automatically approve it, rarely it will ask for a password (I assume when it's unsure) and once it failed and asked me to call their customer services where I was told that it was suspected fraudulent and they blocked my card.0 -

Being cynical, is it possible that the OP (being a newbie too) has somehow come into possession of someone else's card that IS protected by VbV, wants to max it out on free stuff, but doesn't know the security answers?
Just saying. Apologies to the OP if it's legit.0 -
It's only a pain if you don't know your date of birth or billing address?! I don't have a problem with it and nor do the vast majority of our customers! The ones from abroad sometimes have problems as they don't always put their address in the correct format.
