Just a word of warning before you use carrrentals (recommended by this site as a search engine) for renting a car abroad. I searched for the cheapest car hire from Naples airport in September and chose carrentals itself to hire a car.
To cut a long story short, though the company claims to use only reputable firms, I was not allowed to see or choose who I would be hiring the car from before completing the booking and ended up hiring a car from a company called Sicily by Car.
I then Googled this company, since I had never heard of them, and was surprised by the tales of woe from other users.
I immediately decided to cancel the booking. Carrentals didn't mind but charged me £15 for the privilege. That's fair enough, I suppose. Better than losing 900 euros when the deposit is not returned!!
Perhaps I am being unfair, but, at the very least, I'm not sure that I would have gone through with the booking if I had been told that I would be hiring a car from an obscure renter rather than a well-known company.
